The HFC Fall Select Soccer Program is available for Intramural (IM) players who have demonstrated the ability to perform at a higher level and seek more opportunity within the game. These players are some of the more driven and skilled players in our Intramural Program.  Within the HFC hierarchy, Select is the next step on the player pathway.  

Being chosen to a HFC Select team is the reward of those IM players who have excelled during their season. An invitation to the Select team is an achievement for which a player can be proud. It is recognition for their commitment, skill, and passion to play the game. It is the objective of the HFC Select program to inspire the love of the game and promote individual growth.

HFC Select is a pathway for our players who are developmentally ready for the next level to compete in a more structured setting. This program can also be a good transition if your son or daughter is considering travel soccer.

This season, HFC will attempt to roster Select teams for boys and girls at the U10/U12/U14/U16/U19  levels for tournaments in November. Most of these tournaments are local, one day tournaments on weekends. Two local tournaments are offered to each select team. Our Fall Select Season will run from late September through November. 

Each team will practice 1-2 times per week.   Each team's coach(es) will reach out to the parents/players with an introductory/ welcome email.

• Weeknight practices will be held at Upper Salford Park (under the lights).   
• Weekend practices will be held at the Harleysville Community Center.

Team Meetings:

• All U10 - U14 Teams will have a Parent/Player Team Meeting during the first week of practices to discuss team expectations.
• U16/U19 Coaches will meet with players during the first two weeks to discuss Team Expectations

PROCESS

• Directed by HFC Executive Director, HFC Fall Select Coordinators, & HFC Select Coaches
• All players must REGISTER to try out to be considered for a position of one our Select teams.  (There is no registration fee associated with the tryout).
• Coaches will evaluate each player and select between 11 and 18 players per team (based on the minimum/maximum roster size for each age-group)
• Each season new select teams are to be formed.

Players may be chosen to “play up” based on the following criteria: 

• The player will always initially try out in their appropriate (birth year) age group 
• The parent must give consent 
• Both coaches mutually agree 
• Executive Director or Select Coordinators approval 
• The player has the physical, mental and technical capabilities to handle
• The player may only jump one age group (i.e. a 2012 player may be considered to play up to a U14 Select team (one age level/birth year difference), but a 2013 player (two age levels/birth years difference) will not be considered for a U14 select team.  

• The spirit of the select program is to promote within HFC's Intramural system.  Players who participate in HFC's Intramural programming should be considered first (i.e. Fall IM, Summer IM, Spring Academy)
• Players may not be carded for travel
• All players must be legally outfitted as per US Soccer standards
• All coaches must have all clearances on file with the HFC’s Club Administrator
• All Fall Select Coaches must have previous (soccer) coaching experience.
• All Select Coaches are encouraged to complete an EPYSA approved coaching course

Costs for HFC Select are the following:

• $160 per player for Fall 2023 Select Team 
• Any participation in Spring or Winter Select Activities requires HFC Approval at an additional fee.

Items included for select soccer fee:

• Two select jerseys, one pair of socks, one pair of shorts
• Participation in TWO local tournaments
• Patches to be distributed at tournaments
• Practice once/twice a week from end of Sept through November
